Matcha tea is a variety of green tea that is only grown in Japan. It undergoes traditional production methods, is stored at specific temperatures and is shaded from the sun.
Before harvest, the plants are covered to increase their chlorophyll content, thus preserving their green colour and the amino acids they contain.
After harvest, their leaves are ground in stone mills until they become powder.
This particular type of green tea is also used by Buddhist monks for meditation and is rich in vitamins, beta carotene, mineral salts and caffeine which aid in concentration.
